Building a vintage race bike is a tricky blend of art, science and black magic. When it comes to vintage Nortons, no one holds a candle to the team at nycNorton. From our work with Ducati, BMW and Triumph, we were known for designing with a mix of grit and polish — just the look nycNorton wanted. We gave the site a dark urban feel, typography that mirrored the logo and ample space for their stunning images. A WordPress base makes it easy to show off the new builds and maintain their hugely popular blog.

In a sea of photography websites built on a cookie cutter platform, Gregor Halenda’s site stands out as much for its play with focus as for its oversized images and no-nonsense approach to layout. Making it easy to navigate was critical and we organized it to focus on the most important work without burying secondary categories. With hundreds of images and videos to manage and updates that happen sometimes daily we chose to build the site on the reliable and intuitive WordPress platform.

We used animations combined with a clean layout based on their existing identity. Key info and testimonials are right at hand and detailed information is one click away. An illustrated intro movie allowed IW to tell their story with contemporary graphics and simple animation that keep the topic user-friendly.

Since her pieces are usually shot on a dark gray background we chose a black background to further emphasize her work. We borrowed colors from her logo to brighten up the space. We also created a magnifying tool so visitors could enjoy the exquisite detail of every piece.

The concrete forms created by Pete Zoller of Boulder, CO, are rich in texture with deep colors and sweeping shapes. We chose a deep brown for a rich but neutral background that worked well with the colors in the identity. Rounded corners give an added modern feel and echo the edges of concrete slabs. WordPress allows Pete to keep new projects in the mix easily and efficiently. We also created the identity which has subtle c & p letterforms inside a shape that echoes a concrete sink.

When they jettisoned their tech careers to do race logistics full-time, the owners of RaceRite knew they had to come in strong. Building on the clean technical feel of the logo and identity we created, we built a website with a bold sporty feel. We used a typeface that was easily readable and organized the content with an intuitive hierarchy allowing for direct access to piles of information. As one of the fastest growing race logistics companies in the United States, RaceRite needed a profession, high-functioning site to match.

To support their hugely popular consumer whipped cream whippers, iSi North America wanted a blog style website to share recipes and exchange creative ways of using their products. We based our design on the WordPress theme “sugar” but warmed up the colors, softened the typography and added backend functionality to improve content delivery. The WordPress base means easy updates, a consistent formatting across browsers and content that’s easy to share. At it’s heart is a site/blog that does a great job of showing off great food and recipes.

It’s loopy and fun, but also composed and elegant. We paired that filigree style with a typeface and saturated colors that reminded us of vintage ice-cream trucks, 50′s era soda fountains and art-deco packaging. Even though our final logo doesn’t grace the side of a building or a pint container, we’re still glad we came up with it.
